Ans. The man in the play is in his mid-thirties. He is clean-shaven and wearing a trilby hat. From his dress and speech, he appears to be a clerk. But he is definitely lower in the social scale as compared to Mrs. Oakentubb. ,• - The man is bent on taking revenge from Mrs. Oakentubb, folkilling his wife"-and daughter even though, at one point she apologises to him/Of course one cannot help feeling sorry for the man. To have your wife and daughter killed and your family life ruined, is indeed a terrible blow.
