Q.1: What does nursing mean? Where did the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) establish a hospital and under whose inchargeship? ( KHI* Board Science 2014 ) 
Ans: Nursing means looking after the sick and injured. The Holy prophet ( peace be upon him ) established a hospital in Medina and placed it in the charge of a very competent nurse, Hazrat Rufaida.

Q.2: What did the Prophet ( peace be upon him ) do for he sick? 
Ans: He visited the sick regularly,  comforted them and spoke kind words to them. He even visited his ailing enemies. He urged the Muslims to help those who were sick or suffering.

Q.3: What did the prophet ( peace be upon him ) give Hazrat Ghifaria and why?
Ans: Hazrat Ghifaria accompanied the Prophet ( peace be upon him ) in the Battle of Khyber. She tended the wounded soldiers on the battlefield because she was a very good nurse. The prophet (peace be upon him ) presented a necklace to her for her service in the battle.

Q.4: Who was Florence Nightingale? Where was she trained to be a nurse?  (KHI* Board Science 2013,  2015 )
Ans:  Florence Nightingale was born in Florence, Italy, in 1820. She belonged to a wealthy and cultured English family. She was the founder of modern nursing. She devoted her life to serve the suffering humanity. She got training  at the Kaiserswerth Institution of Nursing in Germany.

Q.5: What do you know about the hospital established by the Prophet ( peace be upon him )?  
Ans: The Prophet ( peace be upon him ) established a hospital in Medina. He made Hazrat Rufaida its incharge. Hazrat Fatima and Hazrat Asma also contributed their services to that hospital.


Q.6: What role did Florence Nightingale play in the Crimean War? What did she do with the money offered to her by the British Government?
Ans: In 1854, during the war between England and Russia, Florence Nightingale managed the military hospital in Crimes. She played a great role in the Crimean war. The government gave her £ 45,000 as a reward with which she founded an institution for training nurses in London.

Q.7: How did the Muslim women contribute to nursing?  
Ans: The Muslim women were very active on the battlefield giving water to the soldiers and tending the wounded and the sick. Some Muslim women worked as nurses at the hospital established by the Prophet ( peace be upon him ) in Medina.

Q.8: How did  Muslim soldiers treat their wounded enemies?
Ans: Muslim soldier never killed their wounded enemies. On the battlefield, all Muslim soldiers were always very kind to the sick, old and the injured. Similarly the prisoners of war were treated very decently by Muslim soldiers.

Q.9: Write three sentences on Hazrat Ghifaria? 
Ans: Hazrat Ghifaria accompanied the Prophet (peace be upon him ) in the battle of Khyber as she was a very good nurse. She gave water to the soldiers on the battlefield and also tended the wounded and the sick. The Prophet (peace be upon him) presented a necklace to her for her services in the battle.

Q.10: What difficulties did girls face to become nurses in the beginning? 
Ans: Nursing was not at all popular in the beginning. Parents did not allow their daughters to become nurses. They thought that the profession was not good for girls. Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing also faced great difficulties in becoming a nurse as her parents opposed her idea of becoming a nurse.

Q.11: What is the condition of nursing in our country? 
Ans: At present, there are many training institutes for nurses in our country. A large number of Pakistani girls from good families are being trained in these institutes. A lot of girls are working as nurses in hospitals, clinics and nursing homes.
