Aim In Life / The Career I would Like To Adopt

AIM IN LIFE
THE CAREER I WOULD LIKE TO ADOPT

By NCR - CET
The word 'aim' contains within itself the significance of achieving innovative maintenance. According to Robert Browning,
"Aim, if reached or not, makes life great."
An aim is like a guiding star; it varies from person to person. Some people want to become doctors, others want to become engineers, and some want to become professors. I want to become a professor of English literature.

Some people dislike my idea of becoming a professor. They question why I should choose this profession. Ever since I gained some understanding of the world, I knew that I would have to make my choice sooner or later. I have, therefore, evaluated the prospects of various leading occupations in my country. In the course of my examination, I sorted out the teaching profession.

There are several compelling reasons why I have selected this profession. The major reason is the exemplary model of my Holy Prophet, who set an example as a teacher. Other professions make me giddy. I have often thought about becoming a doctor, but as a doctor, I would have to bid goodbye to recreation and rest. An engineer builds and lives like a machine, but what my profession gives, and will give me, is truly commendable.

My choice or aim may cause a sneer in certain circles, but it is valuable. A teacher is an engineer-maker, a doctor-maker, and much more. His profession not only imparts knowledge but also worth. He builds generations for the country. He inculcates the teachings of the Holy Prophet. A book is supposed to be a source of knowledge, but it is said:
"A book is a dead teacher, while a teacher is a living book."

In short, my profession is not only a job but also a source of respect. A teacher is the key to knowledge. Hazrat Ali, Hazrat Umar, Newton, Einstein, and others achieved their positions in the world due to the influence of their teachers. They remained under the guidance of their teachers, who were commanded by their Great Teacher, God.

When I was reading in my 8th class, my science teacher advised my father to make me a doctor as he was highly pleased with my keen interest and extraordinary proficiency in science subjects. Next year I had to leave my village middle school and my high school was 7 kilometres away from my village. All my high school friends were very regular and punctual our science teachers used to check our homework daily. They earnestly sincerely appreciated my scientific trend particularly towards biology. It is creditable on my part that every time I world stands first in all my subjects. The Karachi Board secondary school examination result showed my fifth top position.

My father's friends unanimously advised him to, seek my admission in F.Sc. pro-medical class. My father asked my option. So far I had actually never thought of making any choice of my profession. Therefore very innocently I requested my father to decide himself. He told me that he would not go against my preference. Naturally it was not easy for me to decide. Internally I also preferred to take admission in some medical college for which I came to know that high first class in F.Sc. medical group was an inevitable (unavoidable) prerequisite (prior condition).

Fortunately one of my cousins was studying in the Federal Government Science College, Clifton, Karachi. He took me to his college. I was astonished to see its 4 storied building. My cousin told me that If I took admission in his college, I would benefit receive an advantage most from its ultra-modern laboratories and foreign qualified staff. I therefore communicated my option to my father. He was very pleased to hear that I preferred to be a doctor.
