Technical education means education in the use of different kinds of machines and techniques of industry. This education can be easily distinguished from general education. General education promotes character through the education of life. But technical education teaches us about the parts or components of machines and the ways of working and repairing them. It also teaches us about the production and use of spare parts.

It is perhaps for no valid reason that men of science feel inferior in the presence of men of learning. There is a general belief that this type of education holds the utmost significance..

The prosperity of a country depends on its ability to engage in trade with other nations and export a maximum quantity of its products. Intense competition is prevalent on a global scale, with each country striving to surpass others in commerce and trade. Pakistan is rich in raw materials but lacks the technical skills necessary to transform these raw materials into finished products. A country aspiring for wealth and prosperity should have a significant number of trained technicians.

This is an industrial age. Most complicated machinery is installed to cater for needs of modern society. In order to become useful members of the society, we have to lean, some art. Agriculture is no longer the main profession that earns the livelihood for the mass population of the world.

Pakistan lacks sufficient advancement in technical education. In all the progressive countries around the world, significant importance is placed on technical education. Countries like America, Russia, and the United Kingdom are leading global powers due to their advanced technical and scientific capabilities compared to other nations.

The government is showing interest in technical education, leading to the establishment of agricultural and engineering schools and colleges in various locations. However, government efforts alone may not be sufficient in this area; individuals should also strive to create better facilities for technical education. Manual labor should not be devalued, and people should recognize the dignity of labor.

In the end, it must be said that general education is as essential as technical education. One should not be prioritized at the expense of the other. While technical education teaches us how to earn a living, general education teaches us how to live. Education should equip individuals not only to secure their livelihood but also to become responsible citizens and compassionate individuals. Our emphasis on technical education should not diminish; it is crucial for our advancement as a more civilized society.
